The Ahepa Charter was issued to Boulder Dam Chapter #314 on May 15, 1938, and is the date of the founding of this Chapter. The official Charter was issued on September 22, 1938 and was signed by G. S. Chebithes, Supreme President, and was counter signed by Supreme Secretary Louis P. Maniatis.
CHAPTER NAME CHANGE:
The name of the Chapter was changed from Boulder Dam Chapter #314 to Las Vegas Chapter #314 in 2000. The name Boulder Dam was initially selected back in 1938 to reflect the fact that the most significant undertaking in the Las Vegas Valley at that time was the construction of “Boulder Dam” and the creation of Lake Mead on the Colorado River. The name of the dam was subsequently changed to the now official name of Hoover Dam. Likewise the City of Las Vegas prior to World War II was a very small community, and not very well known outside of the southwestern area of the United States. The Brothers of Chapter 314, decided in the year 2000, that it was time for our Chapter to have a name that more accurately reflects our geographic location, and that is synonymous with the world-class city that Las Vegas has become as the entertainment capital of the world.
