Ahepa Float continued from the front page is Rose Bowl #373 in Pasadena, California. The Pappas brothers are all track and field champions in their own right with Tom currently reigning as the NCAA decathlon champion. According to author Dr. Frank Zarnowski, a world-renowned expert on the decathlon, Paul, Tom and Bill hold the world record for three brothers in the decathlon with a combined top score of 22,558. The remaining six float riders' efforts
helped to raise money for the project. They
included: Denise Benetatos, Cypress, Calif.;
Stephanie Hook, Atascadero, Calif.; Anastasia
Nickolaou, Huntington Beach, Calif.; Alexa and
Diana Tangalakis, Culver City, Calif.; and Mary
M. Tangalakis, Woodland Hills, Calif.
The AHEPA Hellenic Float was designed and built by Phoenix Decorating Company. In the 2000 Tournament of Roses, Phoenix had 24 entries and received eight trophies, including "Passing the Torch." According to Perdaris, float designer
Dave Pittman is married to the former Mariana
Keros, Michigan, who is the granddaughter of
the late Gust Keros, AHEPA Past Supreme
Treasurer.
