Before us lies the future. What's in store for the Daughters of Penelope of District 20? Opportunities !!! Opportunities for sisterhood, fellowship, strenghthening our ties to one another, and for building and preparing our organization for the 21st Century.

Many of us in leadership positions of the Daughters have been asking for something new; something different to do; something exciting to promote interest in the Daughters of Penelope. Well, that something is here and it's happening in District 20! An opportunity of a lifetime; for the organization; for the chapter; and for all our members - the AHEPA 1999 Rose Parade® Float, "Music from the Acropolis".

There are many ways chapters and members can participate:

1) Plan a decorating party. Come by yourself or bring a group to the Rose Palace in Pasadena to actually put the finishing touches on the Rose Parade Float (Schedule and requirements in this issue of the El Camino Real). If you are coming, please inform Elaine Efstathiou, DOP Decorating Coordinator at (310) 325-7188.

2) Plan a fund-raiser for the float - sell rose bushes; have a "Waltz of the Flowers" dance; try a contest to design a float for the year 2000.

3) Tour the facility at the Rose Palace and Tournament House in Pasadena. Many floats are available for viewing, from the AHEPA float to the floats being built for various companies and the State of California.

4) Attend the Tournament of Roses Parade January 1, 1999. Be there in person to see and cheer our entry. Tour all the floats on January 2 and 3 in Pasadena..

Visitations; a Winter Conference; Sisterhood Conference in May and a National Convention in San Diego in July; all add opportunites for our organization to grow and become stronger...most of which is happening in our own district. Take advantage of the opportunities. Plan exciting and new ventures. Increase the awareness of all around you - the Daughters of Penelope are a unique and dynamic organization.

We stand in the present and before us lies the future. From the present, we can design the future. We can make it unique and special for all the Daughters of Penelope of District 20.
